Beheaded

Beware the sound of galloping hooves,
Cleverly stalking your every move,
And the rush of wind that chills you,
For in the gloom of the night the horseman rides,
To the Hollow and back with his blood stained sword,
For this fateful night may be your last,
As the Hessian Trooper gallops past.

The year is 1799 in upstate New York, some twenty five miles from Manhattan sits a quaint little village called Sleepy Hollow where the Headless Horseman's spirit lingers. The whole neighborhood abounds with local tales, haunted spots, and twilight superstitions, but none other spirit is as prevalent as the Hessian Trooper's. The apparition rides forth to the scene of battle in a nightly quest of his head. Though, as of late something has infuriated the headless spirit. After the mysterious murders of an entire family and their servants, it said the horseman is to blame. The villagers fear for their safety, but cannot do much to protect themselves from an affronted spirit. Life must go on even in death's vengeful shadow.
